October to December 2012

The Bethany family met for lunch on Sunday December 2nd at the Duke’s home.  The whole family except for Lois and Frank Hutchinson were able to come and judging by the noise level, every body seemed to have a good time.  We have a couple of ideas for get-togethers for next year already.

NOCKABOUTS CHRISTMAS DINNER, held Sunday evening 9th December at the home of Brenda and Peter Manuel.

All 16 Nockabouts arrived wearing red and/or green at 5.30 pm for Christmas Dinner at Manuel’s. Drinks were supplied and Brenda created the desserts. All guests brought meats and salads, and a mandatory Krass Kringle gift (that is, one that they had previously received from Kriss Kringle, but could not use).

Following drinks on the patio, Peter provided a short devotional giving meaning to some of the Christmas traditions that have evolved over the ages. Then came a sumptuous sit down meal. While the main course was ‘settling’ the Krass Kringle gifts were distributed using a game format that brought much laughter as people stole ‘valued’ items from each other.

The dessert was hardly ‘calorie free’, but was very well received. Just when people thought they were finished for the evening, Peter introduced another game and once again the Krass Kringle gifts were redistributed amid much laughter. Popular gifts included Viagra (?), a Jersey Boys CD, an ancient medical journal for women, and a lounge tray.
