CAN DO outcomes

Tahlia Cousins, Jaye Cousins, Jonathan Wright, and Mr Wright collected cans from people in the community out the front of Coles Supermarket. These were donated to the south coast community care to help provide cans for the needy in the local area. Here is a report from Christopher Wright - Coordinator for Mission & Outreach

YES !! The Youth CAN!!!
Did you see the large display of cans and food in the foyer last Sunday? These were collected as donations from the shoppers at Coles last Saturday. Tahlia and Jaye Cousins, in between netball, Jaye’s birthday celebrations and a trip to Adelaide, were enthusiastic in their willingness to approach strangers and ask for assistance for the local poor. They were assisted by Jonathan Wright as the afternoon shift. Many people thanked us for our time and effort and complimented the idea of direct and visual giving of food as opposed to asking for money. Some people forgot and so went back in and purchased extra while others encouraged their children to place the gifts “for other children”. It is great to see people behaving in a Christ- like fashion to each other” they said.

There were many generous people who even donated several shopping bags full of cans and non perishable items. In the end there were about two to three full wheelbarrows of non perishable items.
